Violin Masterclass with Ricardo Herz
Ricardo Herz is a global violin revolution with an instantly recognizable style. His technique brings to the instrument the snort of the accordion, the roar of the fiddle and the beautiful melodies of traditional and modern choro. His mix of Brazilian and African rhythms with jazz improvisation and contemporary composition has led to international acclaim.
Herz is a graduate in classical violin from the University of São Paulo (USP). Since then, he has studied at the renowned Berklee College of Music (USA) and at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood, school of the legendary French jazz violinist.
Since returning to Brazil in 2010, he has performed in musical collaborations with many of the most important musicians in Brazil. He has recorded a number of albums and is also a dedicated teacher and promoter of Brazilian violin.
And YOU have the possibility to participate in his classes during the Forró Xperience 2025! He will be in Leisnig from 26th to 29th June. During the festival he will teach a 8 hours masterclass. If you play the violin, viola or chello, Ricardo will emerge you into the world of Brazilian music. He will teach you the concept of swing, improvisation and chords to dive into the world of Choro, Forró, Samba, Jazz and other popular Brazilian rhythms.
When: 27th to 29th June 2025
8 hours with pauses on Friday between 14:00 and 17:00, Saturday between 10:00 and 17:00, Sunday between 10:00 and 12:30
Side notes:
The classes will be held in English and the teaching will be mostly by ear. Music scores will be handed out after the workshop.

Do I need to be an experienced dancer?
Not at all! Forró Xperience welcomes everyone — from total beginners to advanced dancers. All workshops will be for all levels. We want to have fun without distinction.
Got questions? We’ve got answers!
Can I come alone?
Absolutely! Many people join solo and leave with dozens of new friends. You’ll always find a partner to dance with!
Is camping included in my ticket?
Camping is not included in the ticket price. It is sold separately and costs 40€ for 4 nights. Very cheap!
Will there be showers and toilets?
Yes, basic facilities are available for campers on-site.
Can I buy food at the event?
Yes! There will be a variety of food and drink options available at the festival.
Are the workshops taught in English?
Yes. Workshops will be mainly in English (with a touch of Portuguese and German depending on the teacher), so everyone feels included.
Is there parking available?
Yes, It's usually not difficult to find parking spaces.
What’s the best way to get to the venue?
Kulturbahnhof Leisnig is easily reachable by train from major cities like Leipzig and Dresden. When you arrive in Leisnig by train, Leisnig train station is the exact location of the festival.
